Access and Soul Action

As well as our radio project we also work alongside other groups in the area of media and communication and this week we have commenced a joint project with Soul Action. You may already know about this partnership between Tearfund and Soul Survivor to run a short term mission project in South Africa. We're working with the project to produce a photographic record of the event. As the time of of writing Liz is with the team in Durban and will be there for the next two weeks. Access and Openspace

As you may be aware, alongside the radio project we also help out Churches and Christian Charities by giving them advice on communication and recently we’ve been working with once such project called Openspace. Openspace is an independent project to plant a church in a deprived area of Stoke-on-Trent with little Christian presence. So far, we've simply been advising the project but, in a significant development, we've been invited to join the team that will plant the Church. Liz and I are excited about this as we've felt challenged by God to impact our local community (the church will be based near to our home.) Due of the extra work involved, we've decided to step down from our leadership positions at Hope Community Church. However, we don't really feel that we are leaving our fellowship. When Openspace starts (later this year), it's likely to take place on a Sunday afternoon which will mean that we can still attend Hope whenever possible. We're hoping that it's viewed, in a sense, as a plant from our Church and supported through prayer and relationship, accordingly.

Access Radio Project receives £6500 cash boost

Our project has received a major boost with donation of nearly £6500 to the project by two local trusts. Seedbed has donated nearly £5000 to the project and we’ve also had a £1500 donation from Hope Community Church. (Many thanks to both those organisations for their generosity.) As you may be aware we’ve already got our building rental costs met (which itself is worth a further £20,000 per year.)

Whilst there is still a long way to go, this funding means that the project can now definitely go ahead. We're now planning to launch the station, on-line, in September and so we've got stuck into preparing our programme content. Our first task has been to look at our music playlist. This will make up the bulk of our programming and once this is broadly complete we can focus on the other elements that fit around it.

Our online system for accepting donations through debit/credit cards, Pay Pal and cheques. Please click on the "Donate" button at the top of the page (or click here) for our donations web page which has all the information needed.
(Access is a charitable company. We are currently awaiting confirmation of our registered status from the Charity Commission.)
The vast majority of our work is done at no cost to the groups that we help and so we rely on donations to cover costs. Having secured funding for some of our expenses our next goal is to secure personal support for myself and Liz. Any donation towards this would be greatfully received.
