8.What will the general format of the station be (e.g. types of features, interviews etc.)?
Our general approach to programming is set out in our Content (Click here to view this). More specifically the format of the station will be as follows.
General Format
For our daytime programming (6am-6pm) we will be using many of the popular aspects of local independent radio. The format will be play-listed music programmes with spoken features, interviews, news and information slots. We’ll try to keep spoken features as short as possible. In general people’s attention span’s don’t exceed the much past the length of the average song (3-4mins) and so longer features will always be broken down into smaller pieces.
Evenings/Night-time
Whilst people are generally less likely to listen in the evening it is possible to build up audiences if certain types of listener are targeted. For example, it’s more likely that younger listeners will listen then. As interactive content is a big draw for this age group we’ll make use of programming such as listener charts/request shows. Specialist programmes can also attract significant subsections of listeners and so we’ll also be looking at specialist music and interest programmes during the evenings such as a Rock show or Dance music programmes.
